This week, I’ve been rather self indulgent and got the girls to dedicated their recommendations to my first love – dance music.

Whilst my choice may not be an all-time favourite, I’ve picked it as not only do I love it but it’s stubbornly refused to get out of my head all week.  Listen to it once and you’ll know exactly why.

Think classic, think current – whatever you do; it’s Friday so turn the volume up and get your dancing shoes on.

SoStylistic recommends: Shaun Escoffery – I Love Days Like This

New Favourite Thing: Despina Vandi – Gia

Ellie’s choice: David Guetta featuring Kelly Rowland – When Love Takes Over

With A Work In Progress away from her desk, we figured it only right to select on her behalf and couldn’t resist two essential tracks:

CeCe Peniston – Finally

Black Box - Right on time

Soldiersailor: Res – They Say Vision (Robbie Riviera remix)

Last week, we went a bit film crazy and with lots of suggested flicks to watch, it seemed fitting to dedicated Friday recommends to movie soundtracks. Find out what the girls chose and which blockbuster or B movie made it to the list. Enjoy.

This Is MeMy good friend (and rather talented photographer) Laura Perkins and I have been working on our second project under the pseudonym Tinker Tailor And One More Sailor.

Some of you may be familiar with our first venture shooting Street Style and What’s On Your iPod for Kalimocho Girl, but This Is Me widens One More Sailor’s scope as an original and personal collaboration.

Without giving too much away, look out for this on-going feature coming very shortly with regular editions and some very interesting, very different subjects all intimately interviewed and portrayed beautifully.

More than a bit belated, this edition of Music Makes The World Go Round incorporates some of the best picks i’ve stumbled across over the last two weeks.  By chance, most of them happen to be old house tracks that not only were huge when released, but still sound just as good today.

However, between the weekly Fashion Office Recommends feature on Fridays, impulsive individual track posts such as Vicious Circles, and the exciting new Tinker Tailor And One More Sailor project; This Is Me coming soon (phew!), i’ve decided to retire Music Makes The World Go Round for the moment.  It may well be re-installed in the future as a bi-weekly article so watch this space.

Don’t fret though, you’ll still be able to stay bang up to date with all the other soldiersailor suggested tracks that come thick and fast, plus don’t miss what the Fashion Office recommends each and every Friday.

This week’s big five:

Chocolate Puma – Always And Forever (Original Mix).  Give it a chance – maybe not the version you’re familiar with but completely worthy of its place in the top five.

We Fell To Earth – Careful What You Wish For

Blue Foundation – End Of  The Day (Silence)

Robbie Riviera – Sex.  Which, (and in no reference to its title) will always remind me of a man who’s crazy partying i’ve witnessed on many an occasion and am unlikely to forget.

Cut Right Through – Cicada

Listen to the previous edition of Music Makes The World Go Round

I recently met someone who’s sent me a couple of mixes to inspire my own spinning and get me in the summer, stroke Ibizan mood.

Amongst the three hour long sets I’ve received so far, feature a few of my firm favourites plus some current, awesome choices and the best part – a few new found loves such as Julien Jabre and Vicious Circle.

I’ve only one question (two if you include, ‘where on earth have I been to miss Vicious Circle?’) – what highlight awaits me on mix four?

After an early morning movie discussion, it quickly became apparent that Sartoriology missed so many amazing films as a child.  So, after a flurry of email recommendations immediately sent her way, we decided to dedicate this week’s The Fashion Office Recommends to film soundtracks.

To name only a mere few, imagine having missed out on Cry Baby, Flight Of The Navigator, Bugsy Malone, The Goonies or The Lost Boys!  A tragedy perhaps but with over forty must-see movies now on her list, I’d imagine she won’t be budging an inch from the TV anytime soon…

Here’s our top soundtrack picks:

A Work In Progress

Sex And The City: The Source featuring Candi Staton – You’ve Got The Love

A girl after my own heart,  New Favourite Thing chooses ’Do You Dream About Me’ from Mannequin (a completely unintentional Kim Catrall link).

Ellie opts for: West Side Story – America

SoStylistic

From the film Top Hat: Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers – Cheek to cheek

Sartoriology

Trainspotting: Underworld – Born Slippy

SoldierSailor

The Lost Boys: Lost In The Shadows

Last week, the girls chose some stinkers in our cheese themed, Cr*p Songs You Know You Love.  Check them out if you can handle the stench…beware, there’s some rotters!

Tuesday – it’s the day of the week I definitely find the hardest.  It’s neither the beginning or the middle, let alone anywhere near the weekend.  It quite literally keeps me in limbo.

Thankfully, French DJ Laurent Wolf has encapsulated my feelings and shaken me out of my cyclical coma with his uplifting and rather fittingly titled track No Stress.  Spot on lyrics, on the money bass line – it’s the perfect antidote to the nothingness of Tuesday.

Now if only YouTube would lift that ban on music videos

Enjoy.

Due to popular demand, this Friday I’ve devoted The Fashion Office Recommends to what’s affectionately known as ‘Cheese’.  There’s some aromatic choices…

As much as i may have no shame where it comes to music, this challenge was particularly difficult.  After battling with Carly Simon’s, You’re So Vain (too cool), i toyed with Madonna and I’m going Bananas or Hanky Panky (close call) but eventually settled for East 17′s House Of Love.   Neither may be the most pungent nor embarrassing tracks, but it’s a fairly impressive compromise.  Whilst finding the video, Sartoriology was kind enough to send the video to another E17 track – It’s Alright.  It’d be a true shame not to share with you Brian Harvey’s trés fashionable hat and the boy’s exceptional choreography in action.

For those not partial to particularly fragrant fromage, maybe skip this edition and check out what the girls recommended last week

SoStylistic suggests: Soulja Boy- Kiss Me Thru The Phone

Sartoriology: Five – Everybody Get Up

My New Favourite Thing: Miley Cyrus – The Climb

A Work In Progress (who needs to update her blog again): Kelly Clarkson – Since You’ve Been Gone

Danielle: Backstreet Boys – I Want It That Way

A new recruit, Ellie recommends: Justin Timberlake.  A bit too cool for ‘cheese’ really but nevertheless…

Soldiersailor: East 17 - House of Love

Ready for some new music?  It’s that time of the week (already, can you believe it?) to share last week’s top 5 loved tracks.

The sunshine may have made a sudden disappearance, been replaced with flash floods and as usual, London transport chaos, but at least these cool little sounds are here to grab back summer and make the best of what’s left of a rather grey Tuesday.

Last week’s top 5 tunes:

1. The Golden Filter – Solid Gold

2. The Asteroids Galaxy Tour – The Sun ‘Ain’t Shining Anymore

3. Little Boots – Stuck On Repeat (Fake Blood Remix)

4. Thievery Corporation – The State Of The Union

5. Little Hands Of Asphalt – Oslo

Listen to last week’s big five.

So, Friday has snuck up on us once again!  We’re now on week three of The Fashion Office Recommends – a selection of tracks sent my way from my fashionable desk sharers and created to expand all of our musical libraries.

Last week, the feature was fittingly dedicated to the sad passing of the King Of Pop, Michael Jackson.  With such a huge loss, we couldn’t help but sneak in another amazing MJ tune.

Treat your ears to the sounds of the following five new, old and some rather unusual (but far from dissapointing) tracks, with this week’s picks from the girls…

SoStylistic’s choice: Michael Jackson – Working Day And Night

And…James Taylor – Fire & Rain.  Great track with an incredibly sad story behind it.

New Favourite Thing: The Kinks – This Time Tomorrow

A Work In Progress: The Maccabees – Toothpaste Kisses

Sartoriology: The Cover Girls – Wishing On A Star

SoldierSailor

Leftfield – Storm 3000 from the amazing album Leftism.

Danielle: Beverley Knight – Flavour Of The Old School
