Blasting this one out mega fast as this week has been NUTS. My food for thought from this: How can I make time for growth with so much individual contributory work? Oh yes. Get hiring. (Mus, I hope you’re reading this).
Cut back on meetings. This week was madness and impossible to get focus time in. I spent a couple of evenings working to get that focus time. And I’m sick. There’s a message there…
Comms are everything. I had some surprise price increases on personal stuff this week and, being honest, it made me really angry. Not one, but two price hikes in less than 5 months, without any communication.
Micro-meeting win. We all know how hard it is to get everyone at the same time. 15 mins are all I had to discuss a challenge in our copy process. It was successful. More of this.
Start saying no to meetings. And work outside that to which I’ve already committed to. Hijacking my time throws delays at other projects and I’m good at saying no here – yet not this week. Normal service must resume. Thankfully, I’ve started to not story point 100% of my time so there is a bit of wiggle room. Not much, but some. This is the way.
