Weeknotes, 7 April 2023

The week ending 7 April was a busy one given I’m publishing it a little late! I did have stuff written down, important stuff, so I’m still posting this even if it is actually these Weeknotes that are from today.

Growth, productivity, capacity planning. I’ve spent a lot of time looking into how we can optimise the work we do as a team of two, without extra resource. It’s unlikely we’ll recruit right now (I do hope that will change!), so what can we do in the meantime? I’ve been exploring AI and ways of working.

Shaping a new feature. We’re trialling out Basecamp’s Shape Up process at work. The premise is on delivering stuff quicker, using a 6-week cycle. I’m excited to see how this goes.

Organising. Organising. And organising some more. Getting my shit together. I’ve realised that when I feel organised, I feel happy. So I’ve been organising everything – but not all at once.

I’m finding that a ‘little and often’ approach really works for me. Progress, not perfection is my mantra. That and a new-found philosophy of Get Shit Done – my personal strapline in a poor second to Nike’s Just Do it. I wish I’d come up with that line so I could own it, embody it, flaunt it with wild abandon. Even if I’m an Adidas gal.

Journalling. What makes me happy, and what doesn’t. As a reminder for when I need it.
