Weeknotes 18 August, 2023

Hello, Friday. This week’s been a funny one. Not ‘funny ha ha’, more ‘funny’ as in a little testing. I’m heading to a gig tonight so I’m looking forward to tying up work in a nice bow until next week.

Monday. I worked on the content for some new security measures coming in. I took stakeholders through it so to consolidate feedback in one go.

Tuesday. I wasn’t feeling great (throaty bugs lurking, but not Covid. Phew). So, after a design crit, I took it easy and played some soothing tunes.

Wednesday. I was back on form in time for a busy day. I made some updates to the security content I was working on on Monday. I trialled out a co-working space. It’s something that will help increase my focus, accountability, and general mental well-being. I spent the morning on content projects and the afternoon fleshing out some work/life goals. Plus, over the day there were more musings about writing a book and how to keep it simple if I do take the plunge.

Thursday. I heard some bad news so it was a tough, distracting day. I attended a plain language webinar from FreeAgent. While good, the tone of the webinar did come across a bit, “pass aggy” (a friend’s catchy term for passive aggression). I also had some 1:1s with my team and some pairing on tricky terminology for one of our products.

Friday. We have a regular call named “Coffee and a chat”. It’s the most enjoyable – and probably best attended and longest-running – meeting our team has. Everyone says the same. Today we spoke about portmanteaus, great cat names – “Zephyr”, according to ChatGPT.

Giggles, tough times, and lots of perspective. It’s been a humbling week.
