I accidentally titled this post 2034. Given it’s already SEPTEMBER, it could just as well be 2034 in the blink of an eye, too. And don’t get me started about the Christmas stuff I’m already seeing. Society, please stop fast-forwarding our lives. That’d be nice, thank you.
Soap box dismounted, here’s how this week has gone.
Writing a business case for a new UX Writer to join my team. It’s so badly needed and finally, the business is starting to recognise that. I’m hoping the business case will be the last push to give me the purse strings.
Eating tacos. Not really work related but I went to Nightshift, a new bistro right by my house, for a pop up taco and Mezcal night. For those that know me, you’ll know access to Mexican fare – on my doorstep – is an all-round win. It was delicious. I hope they do it again.
Also, in-the-hood tacos reminded me of the taco map Torrey Podmajersky started at Button 2022. And YAY to it almost being time for Button 2023.
Research note-taking. One of my goals (and the rest of our business) is “Get closer to customers”. Participating in at least X is one way I’m doing this. I already attend some research calls, but don’t always make it a priority. This will help me do that.
Planning out copy testing. Not a goal, of such, more something we’ve long needed to formalise where I’m working. I’ve set out why this is important, why now, and what we hope to learn. Next steps are to partner with a researcher. We’ll bounce around some ideas on what copy testing could look like for our organisation.
Lots more good stuff this week too. I’m off to our Coffee and Chat meeting now. Here’s hoping it’s as good as it was last week.
