Weeknotes 24 November, 2023

One month until Christmas. That’s 5 weeks to 2024. Oh boy. The rate at which we rocket through the year is terrifying. I might have to make it my New Year resolution (not that I believe in those) to stop commenting on the pace of life.

I have the day off today, so that’s great. How am I spending it? It started with a bit of a lie in with dog snuggles. The best way to start any day in my book. Pancakes for breakfast followed and a wander in the park with said pooch. Some boxing later, then off to my boxing club’s Christmas drinks later this evening. In summary: a lovely, enjoyable day off.

Here’s a look at the lead up to this rain free (finally) rest day…

Mapping the copy creation process. I’d done this already but it was missing the developer side of the process. It’s never been mega clear to me how this happens. We don’t use a CMS I can edit myself, so how copy gets into our products feels somewhat shrouded in mystery. I’ve not quite got clarity yet, but I will and I’ll document it for the rest of the team to see.

Optimising mobile user journeys to help ready then for testing.

Talking content with Torrey Podmajersky. Torrey kindly opened up some slots in her diary to support people in the content community. I was lucky enough to get one.

Torrey has worked for Microsoft and Google. She’s a published author, and she now runs her own content business, Catbird Content. I’ve followed Torrey for some time. I often recommend her book Strategic Writing for UX so I was super-grateful to chat with her. We spoke about some of the things I’m working on, and lots of shared challenges. I’m pretty sure I waffled a lot and half an hour whizzed by. Thank you again for your time, Torrey. It was really lovely to meet you.
