Weeknotes 12 April, 2024

I have a bunch of (self-driven) deliverables for Q2 so I’ve planned my work up until the end of June. That feels far away, but I know it’ll creep up on us! Here’s some of the stuff that’s on that list and how it’s going.

Strategy and wireframes for a content wiki. I’m transforming our content design guidance. I have the content audit and information architecture sorted. I’m looking forward to the next bit of drafting the content.

Content workshop to drive feature adoption for a group of our users. We’ve figured out if we have any content we can repurpose (none!) and have planned out some nurture emails for new sign ups.

Writing a screener and setting up copy testing. This has surprised me in that it’s not been as straightforward as I thought. Part of the challenge has been that I’ve put some pressure on myself to get this going. I didn’t have much time to give to this and it’s needed it.

It’s taken roughly a couple of hours to set this particular test up – not much time in the grand scheme of things. I had grabbed 10 mins here, 10 mins there to make tweaks after some feedback from our research team. The takeaway? It pays to dedicate the time necessary to a task and sometimes that’s not as quick as you might think. Revolutionary, I know.

Coaching training. Lisa Gates’ Coaching for Results on LinkedIn Learning is the 2nd coaching course I’ve done now. I also did one about ‘ending’ imposter syndrome. This raised an interesting point: we’re likely mis-labelling growth as imposter syndrome. I know for me growth can feel uncomfortable. I’ve learned to roll with it as more often than not, discomfort leads good things.

Driving content improvements from customer feedback. I’m reviewing NPS comments, feedback from UserVoice, Intercom, and on and offline reviews. This is helping me spot things in our products we can make even better. I’m tracking it all in a spreadsheet, with a view to measure the impact of doing this and time it takes to turn it around.

Updating process documentation. That sounds particularly dry, but I enjoy it! With tweaks to our ways of working, our process documentation needs a refresh. One thing I’ve learned over my career is importance of documentation. (Mostly while I was working on an American healthcare chatbot). Never underestimate the value in documenting everything.
