A busy one. Here’s why…
Tweaking copy for upgrade content. There’s usually some tinkering around with copy in my week. This week was no different.
Finishing one book and starting another. I’ve read Designing Connected Content. Now, I’ve started reading Immersive Content and Usability by Preston So. It’s, as you might expect, very different. It’s also a bit shorter so shouldn’t take too long to read. My goal is to read 3 content industry books by the end of the year – I’m on track to smash that.
Pinning down our personality. It hasn’t ever been a priority to flesh out our personality where I work. The thing is, this guides so much of a brand’s content it’s valuable to spend time on it. I’ve added bits and pieces over the years and this week a couple of us did a personality traits card sort. It’s important not to do this sort of work in isolation. I’ve shared the card sort with our brand and content team. I’ve also shared recording of what we’ve done and how we did it. And, of course, invited them to collaborate.*
Reading an email the whole way through. Like a lot of folk, I don’t tend to read things all the way through (especially emails). Email is the worst way to get my attention. I figure that if someone needs me, they’ll message me on Slack or call me. Unless you’re Cat, whose email I just read from nose to tail. I love these nonsensical breaks from a boring inbox.
*I’d usually start with the right peeps in the digital/analogue room from the beginning. I needed to work at speed and it’s tricky to get a time that suits everyone so doing this exercise async was the way to go.
