This week has been quite similar to last week – lots of content auditing. Lots of great collaboration too.
Spending time with SMEs. Resulting really fruitful, not to mention enjoyable collaboration on terminology and voice stuff.
Pair writing content with a designer. I’m 100% pro pairing – we smashed through creating the content for a complex topic in no time. When we did this async the last time it was much harder. The topic is knotty. Our individual knowledge is patchy. So teaming up rather than working bat-and-ball style made sense. Working together for the win!
Brand voice exploration. This is a continual thing for me. We’re making small steps forward, which is progress. At the moment I’m looking (more auditing) at how our voice lands in some key user journeys. I want to better establish where is the right place for touches of personality. And also, what’s too little and too much. A UX Writing survey I ran gave me an idea of how our team think we’re doing with brand voice. I’m using this as a starting point for training and also a tool for collab-ing with our brand team.
Rewatching talks from Lead with Tempo 2024. In particular, Sara WB’s one on making meaning – for ourselves in and out of work. When you’re passionate about what you do, it’s so easy to forget that work doesn’t define you. It’s important to take time to think about what makes you, you. That’s (kinda) the essence of the talk. So what makes me, me? Hiking, boxing, reading, good food with great people. I’ll be doing some of those things over the weekend. I hope you do some of what’s really you, too.
