Weeknotes 13 December, 2024

I was sick last week. I also had the previous Friday off so today’s Weeknotes are something of a recent round up.

Thinking about personal brand. I was lucky enough to have a chat with Adas of Visibly Authentic.

Adas helps people discover and deliver what a “personal brand” looks like for them. We chatted about my content work, and a little about Calavera Club – my passion project. I left with lots of things to think about, which I’ll pick up in the new year. Thank you, Adas!

Leading an idea in a Hackathon. From concept to delivery, over the course of 4 days and with a team of 4. I find Hackathons exciting, but they can be draining. This one focused on agentic AI and how we can adopt that in our software.

Writing my self-review. And having my end-of-year review. I’ve found writing Weeknotes make filling in self-reviews so much easier. That and looking at 1:1 and goal documentation. Documenting everything is the way forward. I’m doing a “brag” doc too, but I still dislike the concept of calling it “brag”.

Prepping for my team’s end-of-year reviews. I spent some time looking back over my team’s progression over the last 6 months. It’s so good to stop and take stock. My team, and extended team, have done such an enormous amount of incredible work over the last year. More in my next point…

Celebrating success. Recognising how far you’ve come is so important – yet it’s not always easy to see it for yourself. Yesterday, we dedicated our Town Hall to recognising our journey over the last year.

There are 16 of us in total. That includes our leadership team. Plus UX and UI designers, Product Designers, Researchers, and Content Designers.

Leaders of each discipline talked about how much we’ve achieved. There was a lot of heartfelt giving thanks. And we highlighted the incredible transformation of our product in only 1 year.

Before wrapping up, our research leader asked us to pause and reflect on one thing over the holidays. To consider how everything we have done contributes towards making our company one of the highest valued tech businesses. For sure, that thought is sticking with me.
