Weeknotes 21 February 2025

Every week, I try to stick to writing my Weeknotes in 30 mins. I went through a phase of taking quite a bit of time on them, and then one week writing them took forevvvvver.

My boss sent me Giles Turnbull’s Doing Weeknotes and it inspired me to limit how long I spend on Weeknotes. I’ve since been pretty good at sticking to my half hour target.

Here are a few of the things I’ve smashed through this week…

Updating our style and usage guidance. Goverining and how I’ve broken it down quarter by quarter. And adding to our word list in the process.

A few useful meetings: notifications, ways of working, bank rules content review. I work mostly async (our whole company does) and I highly recommend it. No one needs endless meetings.

Pay conversations. I used to find the subject of money awkward to talk about, but I don’t anymore. It’s an essential topic as part of business and I have a straightforward attitude about it.

Automatic rules content. You can set these to do certain things in our software. It saves our users endless hours and means they can get time back for doing stuff they’d much rather do.

That’s it in a nutshell. Enjoy the weekend.
