Weeknotes 13 June 2025

Content (of course), conferences (well, one), and conversations is a good summary of this week. I’ll dive straight in to the detail.

I updated our content wiki with guidance on inclusive content. We didn’t have a page on this so I’ve made a start. At the moment I’ve covered things leading with curiosity and empathy. Also on there are tips about only asking for the info we really need, and what to use instead of outdated terms. It’s not everything, but this is a good start.

I attended Lead With Tempo’s 2025 conference. Nine speakers gave talks on Braver Leadership – and they were all epic. I can’t wait to rewatch them all.

I’m giving a presentation on what I learned and can bring back to our business. There’s so much! I knew there would be so I set myself a goal of what to capture during the talks. I wanted to feel present and not overwhelmed with taking notes. I am going to trial AI note-taking apps, but I wasn’t organised enough to trial a few ahead of the conference. And, I didn’t want to do so on such an important day in case the app screwed up. So instead, I gave myself something of a framework for my notes. The framework is: a brief mention of what each talk was about, key things I learned, and things I can implement today. Writing that down now makes it feel like it was a lot to capture. I didn’t feel so at the time for 2 reasons. One: I’d set up my presentation deck with the framework ahead of the conference. Two: the talks got recorded so I know I can go back to fill any gaps.

Improving empty state content and some other small pieces of content optimisation.

Having honest conversations. I’m a big believer in tackling difficult conversations head on. When approached with curiosity and empathy (a bit like the inclusive content page) these convos can be fruitful. They’re great growth opportunities and tend to bring teams closer together.
