Weeknotes 20 June, 2025

I’m sure I’ve written before about overloading myself. I’ve put far too much on my plate again and I’ve felt it this sprint. Also, it’s been one of those weeks where lots of things have come up. A week where I’ve had to down tools on planned work and pick up what’s parachuted in. It happens. I roll with it. And I’ll bear in mind when I’m planning the next sprint on Tuesday to give myself less.

Wrote a business case to lead workshops in Paris. The ultimate goal is to improve working relationships. I have a few exercises on things like what leadership and “good enough” look like, and then plan to bridge any gaps.

Swapping out jargonistic terminology like “aggregation” for clear, understandable terms. They gotta go.

Reviewing roles and permissions content. “Suspend”, “privileges” – those are words removed from legacy content. They’re alarmist, elitist, and anything but inclusive. I’m still uncomfortable with “permission”. I need to do some landscape snooping and testing on this.

A busy Content Design Office Hours. Great to see after a couple of quiet weeks.

Booked a date for a UX Writing workshop. Creating the content for this has taken longer than I expected. The learn for me here is to better acknowledge the time it takes to put something like this together.

A more effective approach to the prep could be to spend a sprint on it. Then, run the training soon after. Everything will then be fresher in mind. Sounds obvious, that focusing on one thing at a time might be best. Yet, I’ve been doing it a bit at a time while managing other to dos. That’s been counter-productive as I’ve had to jog my memory on where I got to, then pick it up again. These workshops should be fun, and it’s felt like a bit chore. So, I’m going to approach this differently the next time I’m prepping a workshop.
