Weeknotes 25 July, 2025

I need coffee and music today, so that’s going to be the order of the day. I’ve switched on the radio and, “Oh my god I’m living the dream!” is belting out of it. That’s not where I’m at RN, but I’ll try and embody it. Maybe after my first cup of jitter juice.

This week’s included:

Presenting my learnings from Lead With Tempo 2025 and some things we I can start doing, or as a team we can start doing. I’m going to run a session on value drivers. Erin Williams, Global Experience Design Director at McDonald’s, spoke about doing these. The intention is to uncover how you create the impact you want to see in the world.

Little copy tweaks on everything from tooltips to our payments project.

Ran a reflection exercise with my team. We did a potted history of how we each got to where we are in our careers. One of the objectives was to raise awareness of when and where we chose things or if hings choose us. It was also to get the team thinking about what they might want to do next and what getting there might look like.

Tracking confidence in UX Writing. I run surveys on this both halves of the year so I wanted to pool the results. This’ll help me see how confidence may change over time and by discipline.

Attended a product audit webinar. I’ve stopped going to Button conference. It’s far from not wanting to go; it’s just too expensive.

So, seeing as Button were running a free watch party on one of the previous talks, I jumped on in. I do so much auditing I’m always keen to find ways to make the task easier, even dare I say it – fun.

Torrey Podmajersky opened things up, then Emily Wachowiak spoke to running audits. There were so many easy, practical tips that I can put into practice right away. Thank you Emily, Torrey and Button for always sharing stellar content, and not always with a price tag.
