It’s been pretty quiet here, I know. I’ve been on holiday, and then returned to needing to be with family due to sad news.
Last week was my first week back to work. I took it easy, yet I had to submit a self-review. By the time Friday came I around, I was too out of steam to think about reflecting on the week’s work. Today I’m getting back into routine reflection, so let’s go…
What I noticed
- It’s crucial to ringfence plenty of time for completing self-reviews and team reviews. And when it comes to promotions, it’s hard making tough decisions. No shit! Yet, it is great leadership experience.
- Sticking to the 2 things I prioritise for the week helps minimise stress. I commit to 2 things I want to achieve each week, and this week it’s helped me see the things I could park for now.
What I learned
- Transparency doesn’t just matter to others, it’s deeply valued. I value it, so why shouldn’t others? I know that sounds obvious, but I hadn’t recognised just how much it matters to people. Being thanked for being transparent made this clearer to me (pun not intended).
What’s next
- Documenting what I need to think about and/or collect for the review process next time. And organise forms etc so they’re easy to access.
- Completing a content roadmap for Q3 and content strategy for our Slack channel.
- I’ve started a 3-month plan for myself, so I need to refine this.
- Rest!
