London, Berlin & a detour to Russia thanks to Andrey Pushkarev
Last week I was back in Berlin and despite being sorely disappointed by the lack of European sunshine, I discovered something, or rather someone, on my final day who injected more than a few heart-warming rays into my trip. The person responsible? Russia’s finest export, minimal tech producer Andrey Pushkarev.
In a controversial switch from my devotion to techno kings Sven Väth, Loco Dice, Luciano and Matthias Tanzmann to name a few, Pushkarev and his Rosa 2009 mix have snatched my affections. Temporary or not, this latest musical crush is all about the Rosa mixes’ cleverly crafted blend of over an hour of stripped back, sun-drenched house.
The joys of this new discovery don’t stop there either as Pushkarev, along with Dmitry Pushkarev (aka Izhevski), is also a permanent resident of Russia’s Deep Mix Radio, meaning that there’s plenty more quality live tune-spinning and on-demand mixes ripe for the picking. Get involved.
