Weeknotes 2 February 2024

I figured out that this week has been the first 5-day week I’ve worked in something like 7 weeks. And it felt like it went slooooow. I’m embracing that though. I know I harped on last year about how quick the weeks were going. Here’s a snapshot of some of the stuff on my plate this week.

Mad context switching. Monday was bananas for this. The products I work on have their complexities, which adds to the load when I’m context switching. The first day of the week had me swapping from no fewer than 5 very different, knotty topics. (No wonder I often feel that I’m going doolally).

Brand language workshop planning phase #2. This was my main focus this week. Puzzling out what to and what not to cover, designing examples of what we do now and what we could do. That, and putting a survey together. I’ll share this with the participants after the workshop. Feedback on this is key for me as I’ve been working to a very loose brief. I have (almost) every confidence that the session will land well. And I’m looking forward to constructive feedback so the next one can be even better.

Improving a briefing template. We use Jira to log our tasks. We often receive Jira tickets that are lacking context. It’s common that there are blank fields. Some tickets don’t highlight who the persona is that we want to target with said task. So, I’ve made some tweaks to the template we use. While this is small thing, it’s mega useful. With a bit of education and governance it should end a lot of back and forth for everyone.
