Two things this week. Both big in the quiet way that strategic work tends to be – not a lot to show for it yet, but a lot shifting underneath.
The first is vision work. I’ve been thinking about where to take content design over the next stretch. Not just what we do, but how it ladders up to the wider design team’s and org goals. It’s the kind of thinking that needs dedicated time. You can feel when a vision is stitched together versus when it connects, and I want ours to connect. We’ve done a lot this year to help people self-serve on copy – using AI to give teams a faster, more consistent starting point. Now the question is what’s next. What does it look like to go further without losing the craft in it?
The second is accessibility. I’ve been working through actions from the accessibility champions group. A few of these have led to real, tangible improvements in the product. That’s satisfying in a way that vision work isn’t at this stage. I’ve also been thinking about how to deepen accessibility within the AI content design tool we’ve built. Right now, it’s light on that dimension, so it feels like the natural next optimisation.
A chunk of this week involved prototyping and demoing outcomes. Not just for my own understanding, but so I can show the team what’s possible without making them work hard to see it. I’m getting faster at that part.
